M. Tochi IwujiFourth Theology
St. Mary's Seminary & University
I was born and raised in Nigeria in West Africa. I was raised in a Catholic family and that played a very important role in my life and in my choice of vocation. I am the youngest in my family. I had most of my studies in Nigeria and for my undergraduate programs; I studied Philosophy and Theology, Religion and Culture, and have a Master’s Degree in Theology.
I was involved in so many activities both in Nigeria and here in the United States that promote the Catholic faith, Christian virtues and principles. I was one time coordinator of the Young Catholic Students in my Archdiocese in Nigeria, active in the Campus ministry in my home parish in Lynchburg as well as an extra-ordinary minister of the Eucharist.
My call to the Catholic priesthood is one that has always been in my mind but came out clearly after years of prayer and discernment. My desire of answering this call is informed by Love of God and Love of neighbor; it is a choice that is likened to the parable in the Gospel of Matthew 13:45; “the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” God is my point of reference in my choice. The devotion to Our Blessed Mother and frequent visits to the Blessed Sacrament and the Divine Mercy Devotion have been my strength in saying yes to the call.
I am currently in St Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore working on my MDIV.
